Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Dotterel Technologies LTD ("the Company", "we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the Konos Control application ("the Application") and the konos-sound.com website ("the Site"). In short: we don't run user accounts, we don't track you, and we don't collect or store your personal data - apart from the few narrow cases described below.

Definitions

  • Company - Dotterel Technologies LTD, 40 Kenwyn Street, Parnell, Auckland, New Zealand.
  • Application - The Konos Control software, available on iOS, macOS, Android, and Windows.
  • Site - the konos-sound.com website.
  • Personal Data - any information that identifies, or can be used to identify, an individual.

Our approach to data

Konos is built to need as little of your data as possible:

  • No accounts. The Application doesn't require you to create an account or sign in.
  • No user data stored by us. We don't collect or store personal data about you or how you use the Application; your settings and any recordings stay on your own devices and storage.
  • No tracking by us. Neither the Application nor the Site uses analytics or advertising/tracking cookies, and we don't build profiles of you.

The Application

Konos Control runs locally on your device. It contains no analytics or tracking and requires no account. Its only network activity is:

  • Software updates (only when you ask). When you click "Check for updates," the Application checks our update storage and downloads any newer version. It does this only when you choose to - it does not check or "phone home" on its own - and it transfers the update files only, sending us no personal data.
  • Your recordings stay yours. Audio recordings are transferred locally from the device to your own computer. They are never uploaded to us or to the cloud.

The Application is distributed through the Apple App Store, Google Play, and the Microsoft Store, which collect standard install and usage statistics under their own privacy policies.

The website and contact form

The Site is a static website and sets no analytics or advertising cookies. The only time it collects personal data is when you choose to send it to us. If you submit our contact form, the name, email address, and message you provide are processed by our forms provider (Netlify) and delivered to us solely so we can respond to your enquiry. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses) for security and reliability, as is typical for any website.

Cookies

The Site does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies - so there is no cookie-consent banner to accept. Any cookies that are strictly necessary for the Site or the contact form to function are exempt from consent requirements under the GDPR and ePrivacy rules.

How we use information

We use the limited information above only to:

  • respond to enquiries and support requests you send us;
  • keep the Application and Site working, reliable, and secure;
  • understand aggregate, anonymised reliability and usage trends where the app stores provide them.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Data sharing

We don't sell or rent personal data. We share information only with the service providers that make the above possible - our website host and forms provider (Netlify), our update-file storage (Amazon Web Services), and the app-store platforms - and where we are required to by law. If the Company is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, any information we hold may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Your rights and data retention

Because we hold so little, there is usually nothing to manage and no account to update. You can still ask us what information, if any, we hold about you and request its correction or deletion by contacting us. We keep contact-form messages only as long as needed to handle your enquiry, and we respond to requests as required by applicable law, including the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and, where it applies, the EU/UK GDPR.

Security

The security of your personal data is important to us. We implement commercially reasonable safeguards; however, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's privacy

Konos is a professional product not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
